This policy explains how Viewi at viewi.space handles personal information when you sign in, create or take part in rankings, search for images or contact us.
Who we are and how to contact us
Viewi is operated by Rachel, the creator of Viewi. Viewi is responsible for deciding how your information is used for this service. For privacy questions, account deletion or other requests, email developer.relational@gmail.com.
Google sign-in and your account
Creators sign in with Google through Supabase Auth. We receive your Google account identifier, email address and basic profile information, such as your name and profile picture where provided. Supabase stores this information with your Viewi account and manages the session that keeps you signed in.
We use this information to identify your account, let you create and manage your own rankings, keep the service secure and respond to account-related requests. Your Google password is never shared with Viewi. This rankings app does not request access to your Gmail messages, contacts, Google Drive files or YouTube channel.
We do not sell your Google account information, use it for advertising or use it to train AI models. We do not publish your Google email address or automatically attach your Google profile to a public vote. Signing in does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
You can remove Viewi’s connection in your Google Account settings. This stops that connection but does not itself delete information already held by Viewi; contact us to request account or data deletion.
Rankings, votes and public information
When you create a ranking, we store its title, description, tiers, items, cover image and other images, together with the account that owns it. Published rankings and their images are public. Uploaded images are stored at public image URLs, so do not upload confidential material, including in a draft.
When you vote, we store the name or nickname you enter, your choices, the submission time and a participant identifier. Your submitted name and full ranking can be viewed publicly. You do not need Google sign-in to vote, but voting creates an anonymous authentication session so this browser can remember and update your submission. “Anonymous” here means no Google account is required; it does not make your submitted name or choices private.
We calculate community results and may analyse public submissions to describe patterns and trends in reports. These analyses use ranking data, not your private Google account information. Public pages and shared images may be copied, indexed by search engines or posted on other services. The original Tube Tiers website and Viewi use the same Tube ranking data, so Tube submissions can appear on both sites.
Ranking reactions
We store reactions against the participant session remembered in your browser. Reaction totals are public; the session identity and individual reaction are not displayed to other visitors. You can change a reaction or tap it again to remove it. Reactions do not change community ranking scores. Clearing cookies or switching browsers can create a different session.
Image search and external content
Image searches are sent to Serper. We do not include your creator name or email in that search request. Search thumbnails load from Google’s image servers, which receive your IP address and browser request information. When you choose an image, we download and store it and its source information to use in your ranking.
Some pages display embedded X posts. When an embed loads, your browser connects to X, which may receive your IP address and browser information and use its own cookies. Opening an external image source, booking link or social-media link takes you to a service with its own privacy policy.
Cookies, analytics and technical information
We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep creators signed in, remember participant sessions and save preferences such as light or dark mode. Blocking or clearing these can sign you out or stop this browser recognising an earlier vote.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand website use, including visited pages, referring sites, device and browser types and approximate country-level traffic. It does not use third-party cookies for this measurement. Vercel and Supabase also process technical information, which can include IP addresses, request details and error logs, to deliver and secure the service. We do not collect precise GPS location or attach location data to individual votes for research.
Optional mailing lists
If you separately opt in to the founding members list or ranking updates, we store your email, signup and confirmation information, the consent wording you agreed to, and any optional information you provide. The founding members list receives updates about Viewi and invitations to give feedback. The ranking updates list receives occasional new rankings. Joining one does not sign you up to the other. Messages may be sent personally by Viewi’s operator. These details are not published with rankings.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by replying to an email, using an unsubscribe link where provided, or contacting us. You must confirm your email before joining either mailing list. We use EmailOctopus to store mailing-list contacts, send confirmation messages and newsletters, and manage subscription and unsubscribe status. It receives your email address and the list and consent version associated with your signup. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful use of your information.
Founding community applications
If you apply for a founding community pilot, we store your name, email, community link, audience estimate, campaign ideas, goals, timing and willingness to share the campaign and give feedback. These details are kept privately in Supabase and used by Viewi’s operator to review your application, contact you and plan a pilot. Applying does not subscribe you to marketing emails or automatically grant a place. Contact us if you want to correct or remove your application.
Why we use personal information
Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on providing the service you request for accounts, rankings and participation; our legitimate interests in securing, maintaining and improving Viewi, understanding use and responding to enquiries; your consent for optional marketing emails; and legal obligations where we must keep or disclose information. We consider your rights when relying on legitimate interests.
Who receives information
Our main service providers are Supabase for authentication, databases and image storage; Vercel for hosting and website analytics; Google for sign-in and image thumbnails; Serper for image search; and EmailOctopus for optional mailing lists. They receive the information needed for their role. Viewi’s operator may access information to provide support, maintain the service and investigate abuse or rights complaints.
We may disclose relevant information if required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, investigate misuse or establish or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal information. Public ranking content is shared as described above.
Providers may process information outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where restricted international transfers apply, the relevant legal safeguards must be in place, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your data.
How long we keep information
We keep account information while it is needed to provide and manage your account. We keep rankings, images and submissions while they are needed to display the ranking and maintain its results, subject to valid deletion requests. Mailing-list records are kept while needed to manage your signup, subscription or withdrawal.
Retention depends on whether your account or ranking remains in use, whether information is needed for an unresolved support or rights complaint, and any applicable legal requirements. We may retain limited records to handle disputes, prevent abuse or record an opt-out. Backup copies can remain until the provider’s backup cycle expires. We do not promise that deleting a browser cookie removes server-side records.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of your personal information, restrict its use, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights can have exceptions. Email developer.relational@gmail.com with your request. For a public submission, include its ranking link and submitted name; we may need information to verify that the request is yours.
Account and data deletion requests are handled by contacting us; there is not currently a self-service account-deletion button. We will explain any information we need to retain and why. Copies independently shared by other people may remain outside Viewi’s control, although we will consider any steps required by law.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can contact us or complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, or the data-protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Viewi develops. We will update the date above and give additional notice of significant changes where appropriate or required. We will obtain fresh consent where it is needed for a new use of information.
